Introducing the Necessities Index—Get a Clearer View of Students’ Material and Social Needs

We’re excited to introduce a powerful new addition to the Panorama Check-Ins tool: The Necessities Index. Created in collaboration with Dr. Angela Duckworth and her team at the University of Pennsylvania, this 10-item scale offers a more nuanced way to understand the material and social conditions that help students thrive.

Now available as a question set within Check-Ins, this tool covers essential topics like transportation, nutrition, and academic support. We suggest using the Necessities Index once or twice per school year to gather meaningful insights into your students’ needs and find ways to support them at home.

Introducing Survey Question Updates That Improve Readability for Students

This update makes Panorama’s Student Survey questions even more accessible, inclusive, and understandable. After extensive research and development, we’ve updated the questions across 11 key topics, such as Sense of Belonging, School Climate, and Self-Efficacy.

The updates range from simplifying vocabulary to adjusting response options. These changes will ensure that every student can engage meaningfully with the surveys, no matter their reading level or background.
